Bottled in 2011 from a single European oak sherry hogshead which after 38 years maturing yielded 456 bottles. Released as part of Glenfarclas's 8th batch of single "Family Casks".
Sampled on 10/09/2013
Clear, deep mahogany.
Huge sherry nose with currant and sultana fruit, cacao, freshly roasted coffee beans, flowering shrubbery and faint star anise.
Dry, mouth puckeringly so. Burgundy wine-like tannins, coal tar, generous Christmas cake fruit and spice. Water releases even more fruit but be careful not to over water.
Spicy fruit cake heavily laced with sherry.
