First released in 1997, this is the ninth Limited Edition of Fuller’s Vintage Ale. Brewed with Fuggles hops and floor malted Optic malt using Fuller’s own yeast strain and bottled conditioned to develop with age (so expect some sediment). Only 95,000 individually numbered bottles were produced.
Sampled on 04/11/2013
(sample “best before end 2008”) Cloudy, tawny brown-amber with thin off-white head with large bubbles.
Earthy caramel, vinous fruit – figs and prunes and mixed herbs.
Currants and raisons with stewed, dried and vinous fruit. Reminiscent of a spicy Christmas pudding.
Chicory, caramel and liquorice with lingering Christmas spice. Possibly now a little over mature.
