Glenmorangie Taghta (pronounced Tuh-ta) is billed as being the “first crowd-managed single malt” with whisky enthusiasts around the world given the opportunity to select from a number of options to decide on the whisky (manzanilla sherry cask aged), its name (Gaelic for ‘chosen’), design and launch.

The intuitive, named ‘Cask Masters’ by Glenmorangie’s owners Moet Hennessy, begun in March 2013 and concluded with the release of this limited edition (12,000 bottles) in September 2014.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 03/10/2014

Appearance:

Clear, golden amber.

Aroma:

Toffee, buttery fudge, cacao, tree bark and dried fruit - dates with candied orange zest. Water reveals nutmeg and seaside air. Very faint tinned peaches.

Taste:

Dry salty toasty oak, cracked black pepper spice, toffee and olives with faint cigarette ash tray. Opens and harmonises with water which reveals more toffee fudge and slightly burnt chocolate sponge cake. Fruitiness is subdued with burnt raisins and faint peachy dried fruit.

Aftertaste:

Earthy, salted toffee and cracked black pepper burnt finish.
