Part of the De Vere Collection of rare, independently bottled whiskies launched in 2012, this bottling is from cask number 23, filled in 1977 at The Glenlivet distillery and aged 35 years in an American oak cask which yielded 214 bottles.
Sampled on 02/01/2014
Clear, golden amber.
Honeyed dried fruit, green apple, leather and light cinnamon spice. Water amplifies fragrant apple and pear fruit with aromas reminiscent of an old-fashioned fruit and veg shop with whiffs of allspice.
At full-strength, honey and fruity sweetness is slightly masked by spirity spice. Water opens to properly reveal the fine balance between sweet dried orchard fruit and elegantly spiced oak.
Spiced pear and elegant oak.
