Named after the 18th century ancestor of the Wemyss family, producers of this blended Scotch. Lord Elcho, eldest son of the 5th Earl of Wemyss, supported Bonnie Prince Charlie and fought in vein at the Battle of Culloden leading to his being stripped of his title and lands and exiled to France.

The Lord Elcho brand debuted in 2012 as a 15 year old blended Scotch before this no-age-statement whisky was released in April 2014.

Review and Tasting


Sampled on 14/04/2014

Appearance:

Clear, golden amber.

Aroma:

Almond, white stone fruit, milk chocolate and new leather with citrus zest, white petal flowers and toasty oak.

Taste:

Pencil shavings, ripe pear, green apple and grapes with vanilla, caramel and nutmeg.

Aftertaste:

Caramel, warming cinnamon and ginger spice with brazil nuts.
