Founder’s Reserve is a blend of two styles of Irish whiskey: single malt (70%) and single pot still (30%), aged 8 to 12 years in American oak. So unusually, this blended Irish whiskey is 100% produced using a copper pot still and contains no grain whiskey or column still whiskey.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 14/10/2014

Clear, deep golden amber.

Honey, green apple and pear, toffee, caramel and buttery shortcake with cinnamon and nutmeg.

Creamy fudge, toffee, crisp green apple and vanilla oak with light pot still spice (cloves, cracked red pepper corns, paprika and nutmeg).

Toasted almond, fudge, toffee, cracked black pepper, nutmeg and smoky paprika. Overall: Balanced toffee, apple and spice but somewhat brash.
