Released in June 2011, Bowmore 1982 is the second expression in the distillery's vintage series. This release of only 501 bottles was aged for 29 years in Bowmore Distillery's Number 1 Vaults, parts of which lie slightly below sea level and next to the North Atlantic, so a damp, salty microclimate.
Bowmore 1982 is presented in a wooden gift box with a 'weather-beaten' brown leather strap and copper buckle, each bottle come with a numbered certificate signed by the Distillery Manager Eddie MacAffer.
Sampled on 01/05/2011
Clear, bright gold.
A salty fruity nose (pineapple, ripe watermelon and pear drops) with light smoked oak aromas.
Hydrated to approx. 40% abv yields smoky notes emerging prominently on the lightly salty palate which has vegetal/seaweed flavours with fruity notes (overripe banana) more subdued.
The smoky vegetal notes continue through the long finish which has delicate coconut flavours.
