Made by Mister Katz himself, the founder of New York Distilling Company, Allen Katz. As the name suggests this liqueur is based on rye whiskey, also made at Brooklyn’s New York Distilling, and is a modern interpretation of the rock and rye which was made in saloons across America.

Katz’s Rock & Rye is made by macerating sugar, sour cherries, cinnamon and citrus zest in rye whiskey. The blend is then filtered, brought to bottling strength and hand-bottled.

Appearance:

Clear, mid-golden amber with burnished copper glints.

Aroma:

Zesty mandarin orange, apricot, cinnamon, maple syrup and vanilla.

Taste:

Lightly sweet but balanced and not at all syrupy. Orange and lemon zest, rich caramel and butterscotch with cinnamon and black pepper spice.

Aftertaste:

Dried apricot, orange zest and butterscotch with mild pepper and cinnamon spice.

Overall:

Rich and honeyed with layers of zesty citrus fruit over underlying spicy rye whisky with caramel, maple syrup, vanilla and apricot.
