The third release in Ron Zacapa's annual Reserva Limitada series, this 2015 release is blended from rums aged between six and 24 years, matured in a combination of ex-American whiskey, ex-sherry and ex-Pedro Ximénez casks before being finished in re-charred barrels, all at altitude.

Appearance:

Clear, deep mahogany with bronze glints.

Aroma:

Vanilla fudge, orange zest, dried apricot, almond, vanilla, cedarwood and caramelised fruit. Faint herbal and spice adds interest.

Taste:

Drier than you may associate with Zacapa but with faint honeyed richness, vanilla and sweet amaretto-like toasted almonds balancing bitter espresso coffee, dark chocolate and dry oak. Subtle herbal notes add complexity while cinnamon, nutmeg and chili spice enlivens this rum.

Aftertaste:

Vanilla, mocha coffee and dark chocolate with very mild chili and cinnamon spice.

Overall:

Vanilla, amaretto and honeyed richness are harmoniously balanced by espresso coffee, bitter chocolate, dry oak, with subtle enlivening spice and faint herbal complexity.
