This “black pale ale” is one of a growing range of Christmas themed seasonal beers from Ridgeway Brewery in Oxfordshire, England.
Sampled on 19/12/2016
(sample bottle BBE 20/Apr/18) Clear, deep mahogany brown, almost black with thin quickly diminishing head. No lacing.
Roasted/burnt malt, caramel and faint liquorice.
Light to medium bodied. Burnt toasted bread, liquorice and lightly bitter grassy hops.
Charcoal burnt toast, faint liquorice and light hop bitterness.
Given its dark colour this Elf is surprisingly light – indeed it’s a tad on the bland side.
