Distilled by Jake Burger, Carlo & Filippo using a copper pot still called Coppernicus II at London’s 171 Portobello Road (not “The Distillery at 186 Portobello Road) with botanicals including roasted mango skin, timut peppercorn, Japanese Shiso leaf and bergamot.
1,000 bottles were made for distribution in Italy by Onestigroup S.P.A..
Sampled on 22/03/2017
(sample bottle No. 0063) Crystal clear.
Zesty orange, dried mango and ripe peach fruit with pine-fresh juniper, herbal and spice complexity. Attractive floral notes are amplified with water.
Initial soft, almost creamy mouthfeel cut by zesty orange citrus bite and peppery spice. Pronounced piney juniper and grassy notes (shiso and dill perhaps). Very clean and bone dry.
Fades with more zesty orange and lingering citrus oils, floral and basil herbal notes.
This is a big gin, bursting with bergamot freshness, timut pepper spice and subtler grassy and floral notes. These flavours – particularly bergamot explode in a G&T.
