Made by infusing and then distilling the peels of blood red oranges from the Mediterranean island of Corsica, along with Cointreau’s signature sweet and bitter orange peels.

La Maison Cointreau recommend enjoying this liqueur mixed 50:50 with cranberry juice served in a large wine glass filled with ice and garnished with a slice of orange.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 11/04/2017

Appearance:

Crystal clear.

Aroma:

Zesty mandarin, orange marmalade and soft candy chews.

Taste:

Clean zesty and well-balanced with citric acidity balancing sweet marmalade orange notes.

Aftertaste:

Long lingering and refreshing, slightly sweet blood red orange.

Overall:

When compared to Solerno, which we’re sure many will do, Cointreau’s Blood Orange is much lighter, sweeter and 10% less in alc./vol.. So it is not a substitute, and we’ll guessing it is not trying to be. It is well-balanced and well-made with a slight candied blood red orange flavour.
