Chase make the gin-like botanical spirit on which this liqueur is based by distilling Chase Vodka in gin still with 17 botanicals. They then infuse the distillate that emerges with elderflowers, raspberries, blackcurrants and sugar.
Chase recommend “serving well iced with lemonade, fresh sprigs of mint, orange, a squeeze of lime and a variety of fresh summer berries.”
Sampled on 24/06/2017
Faint haze, pale brick red.
Pungent rosemary, thyme and black pepper spice with more restrained blackcurrant, raspberry, Earl Grey tea, elderflower and lavender.
Black pepper, rosemary and thyme enliven and dry rich blackcurrant and raspberry with resinous pine and zingy spice.
Fruity, spicy and faintly earthy with lingering herbal notes.
Distinctly spicy and herbal – perhaps overly so. And a tad drier than other fruit cups. Sadly, this summer offering from chase is a mere 20% alc./vol., although with all that herbal spice is still packs a punch in the glass – perhaps use a little less lemonade.
