Five Rivers is a dry spiced rum with no added sugar, made in a London gin distillery in a similar way to gin by distilling rum with Indian botanicals; cardamom, coriander, cassia, ginger, and clove.

Punjab, translates to mean the 'land of the five waters', a reference to the area, which sits in the foothills of the Himalayas, being traversed by five rivers: The Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi, Sutlej and Beas.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 29/03/2021

Appearance:

Crystal clear.

Aroma:

Suggestive of Delhi's Khari Baoli spice market with alluring clove, coriander, cassia, and cardamon.

Taste:

Dry and attractively spiced with enlivening coriander and warming clove to the fore.

Aftertaste:

Clean, long and spicy.

Overall:

Five Rivers promises and delivers "spices of the Punjab" in a superbly clean and dry rum. Five Rivers is a dry rum that has a lot in common with dry gin and indeed it's very tasty when mixed with tonic and makes a very pleasant change to a G&T.
