Like Campfire Gin, this cask aged version is made with 10 botanicals: juniper, orris, coriander, angelica, rooibos, roasted hazelnut, golden berry, fresh orange peel, fresh grapefruit peel and lavender.
The botanicals are macerated for 24 hours in UK produced neutral wheat spirit and then removed from the still (a 50 litre still called Isabella) prior to distillation. The strength of the distillate is reduced before filling American oak ex-bourbon barrels. The aged gin is then filtered to remove wood/charcoal debris and further reduced in strength prior to bottling.
Campfire Gin Cask Aged was launched March 2017.

Clear, pale golden.
Piney juniper, black pepper spiced toasty oak and lemongrass with faint coconut and vanilla.
Spicy and lightly oaky but retaining good piney gin notes and zesty citrus.
Surprisingly citrusy finish with plenty of piney juniper.
As oak aged gin go, Campfire is very well-balanced with oaky flavours assertive but not dominant. Zesty citrus adds freshness and sits well with subtle vanilla notes. As its makers say, this is “worth a try in a Negroni.”
