Launched April 2018, Bacardi Añejo is aged in ex-bourbon barrels for 4 years (Cuatro means four in Spanish) and Bacardi say "that is creating an accessible entry point to premium."
Review and Tasting
Sampled on 13/04/2018
Appearance:
Clear, golden amber. (SRM: 10)
Aroma:
Vanilla fudge, toffee, clove, nutmeg, cinnamon and faint (attractive) notes of Bacardi's signature blue cheese and mushroom soup.
Taste:
Initial slight vanilla and dark honey sweetness quickly dries with toffee, toasty oak, clove and cracked black pepper spice.
Aftertaste:
Relatively dry caramel, toffee, vanilla and light spice.
Overall:
An easy, well-balanced and very tasty sipping rim at an affordable price. We concur with The Sun newspapers "TOP TIPPLE - Bacardi's got a new posh dark rum to woo over snobby drinkers – and it costs £25 a bottle." Certainly wooed us.
