Based on a blend of rums distilled in wooden pot and column stills at Guyana’s Diamond Distillery with a lighter rum from Trinidad Distillers, flavoured with Trinidadian produced caramel, cloves and other “natural spices”.
Review and Tasting
Sampled on 27/03/2019
Appearance:
Clear, deep bronze amber with glints of burnished copper.
Aroma:
Spirituous spice and struck match with ginger cake and caramel.
Taste:
Immediate hit of strong spirituous rum followed by caramel, ginger cake and spice.
Aftertaste:
Spirituous, brown sugar, spice and ginger cake.
Overall:
When so many products masquerading as spiced rums are mere “spirit drinks” below the requisite strength to be classified a rum, it is refreshing, and indeed intoxicating, to sample a true spiced rum at a whopping 66.6% alc./vol.. Too much? Then perhaps opt for Cloven Hoof Spiced Rum, the sibling product at 37.5%.
