The first Caorunn flavour, launched 18th April 2019 to celebrate the gin's 10-year-anniversary, Caorunn Scottish Raspberry is distilled in 1,000-litre batches with Perthshire raspberries in addition to the brand's usual 11 botanicals, five of which are from Scotland.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 24/06/2019

Appearance:

Crystal clear.

Aroma:

Pungent confectionary raspberry and vanilla, reminiscent of Raspberry Mivvi ice-cream. Underlying piney gin botanicals.

Taste:

Slightly sweet raspberry and vanilla Mivvi ice-cream-like flavours continue masking Caorunn's more traditional juniper and other botanical flavours.

Aftertaste:

Raspberry pavlova with lingering piney juniper and light peppery spice.

Overall:

This flavoured gin delivers its promised ripe raspberry flavour with underlying gin botanicals and is sure to appeal to those seeking such a style of gin. However, as a more traditional gin fan, I'd like to have seen the raspberry and vanilla notes slightly less dominant so better integrating with juniper and Caorunn's other botanicals.
