Review and Tasting

Sampled on 17/09/2020

Appearance:

Crystal clear.

Aroma:

Surprisingly closed with peppery spirituous spice masking subtler notes – basil, peppery rocket lettuce, fresh coriander leaf and nutty bready notes with faint rose petal.

Taste:

Piney juniper, nutty bread and Walldorf Salad – quaffable and pleasing even at 52%.

Aftertaste:

Pine fresh, rocket lettuce and black peppery spice with more balsawood nuttiness. Elderflower emerges in the lingering finish.

Overall:

As the name suggests, Archie Rose Distiller's Strength Gin is bold and intense but surprisingly quaffable even at its full powerful strength with a smoothing nutty breadiness. Botanicas such as the fresh pear, rose petal and elderflower are superbly integrated into what remains a traditionally styled juniper-led dry gin but with a very contemporary Australian influence.
