From Venezuela's highly regarded Destilerias Unidas, this is a blend of rums matured for up to 12 years in a combination of American white oak, ex-bourbon barrels, and sherry seasoned casks.

Appearance:

Clear, deep bronze amber with bright golden flecks.

Aroma:

Prunes, dates, figs, and sultanas with vanilla, rolling tobacco, blackened fruitcake, coconut macaroon and white pepper.

Taste:

Rich and yet dry with lightly bitter wood tannins. Baked overripe banana, dried fruit, coconut macaroon, tobacco leaf, chicory, and delicate Christmasy spice.

Aftertaste:

Rich dried fruit, vanilla, toasty oak, and black tea tannins with very delicate spice.

Overall:

Rich in character and yet dry with black tea-like tannins adding to the generous depth of flavour. Dryer than is typical of Diplomatico this is a highly recommended delicious rum. Find a quiet time to sip, contemplate and relax.
