This ale commemorates Thomas Paine who was born in the English town of Thetford but immigrated to the British American colonies in 1774 in time to participate in the American Revolution. He is thought to have helped draught the American Declaration of Independence.

Appearance:

Slightly hazy, orange amber with extremely thin head.

Aroma:

Subdued, bloody beef with floral hops, sweet orange and lemon zest.

Taste:

Full bodied with robust malt and hop flavours with the merest hint of toffee and sweet plum pie.

Aftertaste:

Moderately bitter with hints of slightly metallic sweet sultana.
