Tsuchi is one of a range of awamori (pronounced "owl-am-oar-e") by Ryukyu 1429 (pronounced "Rue-queue 1429"). Kaze, meaning wind, is a 'kusu' amamori, a term meaning 'old alcohol' for awamori that has been aged for three years or more. Ryukyu 1429 Kaze is matured for five years.

Even after bottling, awamori continues to mature and its flavours evolve.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 08/03/2022

Appearance:

Crystal clear.

Aroma:

Spicy and earthy with mushroom, ash and white pepper.

Taste:

White and black pepper spiced mushroom, with putty, vanilla fudge and cashew nuts.

Aftertaste:

Pepper spice, mushroom and vanilla fudge.

Overall:

"Rancio" is a term used to describe subtle flavours in very old cognacs evocative of aged leather, mushroom and nuts. This awamori has pepper spice enlivened rancio.
