This vintage champagne is a 50% chardonnay and 50% pinot noir blend with Crus including Chardonnay from Côte des Blancs Grand Crus and pinot noirs of Montagne de Reims. Brut Millésimé 2000 has been bottle-aged for at least 7 years prior to disgorgement and release.

According to Laurent-Perrier, “The mild temperatures of winter 2000, followed by the changeable weather then reverting back to fine periods, allowed maturation to eventually develop resulting in champagne that has delicate roundness.”

Review and Tasting

Sampled before 1st May 2011

Appearance:

Light golden yellow with fine, persistent bubbles.

Aroma:

The appealing nose is reminiscent of Marmite on generously buttered toast with slight hints of candied citrus fruit.

Taste:

The fresh palate zings with lemon juice and lemon zest acidity with nutty notes mid palate before finishing with more fresh lemon acidity.

Aftertaste:

Drinking well now but may benefit from being cellared for a few years.
