The Foxdenton Estate, after which this gin is named, is run by Nicholas Radclyffe - the descendent of a military family that first acquired the Foxdenton estate through marriage in 1367. Like so many others, Nick asked Charles Maxwell at the Thames Distillery to development a Foxdenton Gin.

Experiments started with the basic botanicals of juniper, coriander, oris and angelica. To quote Nick: "In the end we used lime flower oil as the botanical that lifts our gin above the crowd. Having produced what we thought was a fabulous gin we then had to take a rather momentous decision and go for a 1,000 litre production run."

Review and Tasting

Appearance:

Crystal clear.

Aroma:

(diluted to approx. 43%) Fresh, clean, traditional London dry juniper nose with heavy naan bread-like coriander seed and angelica.

Taste:

Citrus lime zest burst leads to an equally traditional, clean palate with orris root providing distinctive earthy parma violet flavours.

Aftertaste:

Finishes dry with lingering pine juniper and fresh hay.
