Jungfrau is flavoured with more than forty spices, herbs, roots, fruits, peels, and flowers including aniseed, bitter orange and white turmeric and is touted as being a "Jägermeister alternative".

This herbal liqueur is inspired by the mythical story of a herbal tonic that is said to have helped two brothers become the first explorers to reach the summit of Switzerland's notorious Jungfrau Mountain. The most dangerous of the Swiss Bernese Mountains, Jungfrau was renowned for inaccessibility, earning it the name, 'The Virgin' after numerous failed attempts to reach its summit. That is until the Meyer brothers finally conquered the mountain in 1811, each carrying a hip flask containing an infusion of herbs and spices to sip for extra warmth. It is claimed that this is what gave the brothers the strength to succeed (and unlike modern athletes they were not subjected to testing afterwards).
