As is typical of U.S. West Coast IPAs, Ram’s Head is aggressively hopped with Bravo, Chinook and Motueka hops giving it a respectable 75 IBUs. It is brewed with Pale, Munich and Rye malts. Fordham’s marketing for this beer argues drinkers to "Defy the ordinary. Take life by the horns.”

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 06/07/2013

Appearance:

(sample best before 13-Mar-14) Hazy orange amber with a thin but retentive white head leaving heavy lacing.

Aroma:

Pronounced pine sap and grassy hops over underlying freshly sawn oak and malt.

Taste:

Medium bodied with muscular pine sap hops, grapefruit zest and dry oaky notes.

Aftertaste:

Lingering bone dry piney hops. Ram’s Head sits somewhere in the middle in terms of bitter hop notes in American IPAs at 75 IBUs – it’s no whimp but more approachable than many.
