Made according to an 1859 recipe from Henry Harvey's brewing journal, this porter is brewed using pale ale, malt, crystal malt, black malt and Sussex grown hops with Harvey’s own yeast strain. Brewed annually every February this porter is part of Harvey's Seasonal Ale selection.

Appearance:

(best before Jan-2014) Almost opaque, beep brown, almost black with thin tan head leaving spotted lacing.

Aroma:

Tar and black liquorice with molasses and notes of freshly roasted coffee.

Taste:

Black liquorice, heavilly toasted (chocolate) barley and espresso coffee with raisins, walnuts and slight smoky note.

Aftertaste:

Liquorice, tar and burnt toast.
