A "blend of Three Barrels VSOP and natural honey flavouring."
Despite the labelling saying "The three barrels symbolise the optimum balance of eaux de vie, traditionally sourced from the three prestigious wine regions of Burgundy, Bordeaux and Champagne", tellingly the very small print on the bottom of the back of the bottle says "Primary ingredients originates from other countries than France." Clear, bright coppery amber.
Pungent, unctuous honey with leather and faint lavender.
Well-balanced, honeyed palate – not overly sweet but lacks alcohol punch.
More spirit peppery bite in the honeyed, leathery finish. Not sweet enough to be a real liqueur but lacking the alcohol to be a 'real' spirit.
