G'Vine Nouaison Hanky Panky Cocktail

Difford's Guide

Vintage: Non-vintage

Aged: 2 months

Product of: Product of France France

Quite simply G'Vine Nouaison gin with sweet vermouth and Fernet Branca which has benefitted from eight weeks aging in new French oak barrels. Supplies are very, very limited - we note on the label of this bottle that it is number 16 of 18 bottles.

We first came across this very special version of the classic Hanky Panky cocktail at a G'Vine-sponsored seminar at the 2011 Manhattan Cocktail Classic and this sample is courtesy of Eurowinegate's own Audrey Fort.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 16/06/2011

Appearance:

(bottle No. 16 of 18) Clear, mahogany brown with saffron yellow tinge.

Aroma:

Wonderfully appealing complex nose with woody spice, cinnamon, cloves, angelica, juniper, sloes, lemon zest and cigar tobacco aromas.

Taste:

Minty menthol notes jump out the multifaceted, well-structured palate and enormous body.

Aftertaste:

Minty, liquorice finish with cacao notes. All this needs is an orange zest twist.
