First distilled on 17th August 2014, Rock Rose Gin is named after its distillers first forage for botanicals along the cliffs of the Pentland Firth near the distillery, where Rhodiola rosea was introduced to them by a local Herbalist. It was literally a rose in the rocks, hence the name.
Other botanicals foraged from the Caithness countryside include: sea buckthorn, rowan berries and watermint. Annual changes in these botanicals impact the gin, meaning its character subtly changes each year.
Rock Rose Gin is distilled in a 500 litre copper pot still with the botanicals held in a vapour basket. Each bottle is hand-wax sealed and signed by the distiller.
