A blend of Ugni Blanc, Bacco and Folle Blanche Armagnacs made from Bas Armagnac and Tenarèze wines distilled using double distillation. Aged separately, mostly in Limousin oak casks, for 7 to 12 years. Packaged in a Basquaise bottle. Residual sugar: 1 g/l.

This VSOP accounts for 70% of Janneau’s sales.

Review and Tasting

Appearance:

(L.289 12) Clear, orange-coppery amber with burnished copper highlights.

Aroma:

Kirsch, cherry, stewed plum and cider apple fruit with floral violet, clove, nutmeg, hazelnut and freshly sawn cedar wood.

Taste:

Slightly sweet and very fruity (prunes and dry fruit) with drying oak tannins, tobacco, vanilla, quince and kirsch.

Aftertaste:

Peppery spice explodes in the prune and stewed plum finish with tobacco and dry oak. Light, fruity and quaffable.
