Belvedere Black Raspberry is made using distilled macerations of fresh raspberries and French blackcurrants with French rose water. The raspberries used are hand-harvested from the Podlasie area of northeast Poland which is a mere thirty minute drive from the distillery in Zyrardów.

After macerating for up to four weeks, the fruit is gently pressed and the pulp removed. The juice and the vodka continue to macerate for a further two weeks. This avoids introducing too many of the bitter tannins from the small pips in both the raspberries and the blackberries. The distillates of these two fruit macerations are blended with French rose water.

Launched in June 2009.

Review and Tasting

Sampled before 1st May 2011

Appearance:

Crystal clear.

Aroma:

Jammy raspberry, vanilla, white pepper nose with hints of rosewater.

Taste:

Slightly bitter, dry, jammy raspberry, black pepper palate. The flavour of this vodka is believably natural with slightly earthy flavours found amongst the sweet fruit palate. Lacks the boiled sweet taste of some lesser raspberry flavoured vodkas.

Aftertaste:

Believably natural, although of cooked vanilla laced rather than fresh raspberries.
