Matured for 10 years in ex-bourbon casks, Tobermory is produced at the only distillery on the Isle of Mull. Established in 1798, the distillery was purchased, restored and reopened by Burn Steward in 1993. Tobermory is one of two malts produced at the distillery - the other being Ledaig.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 29/09/2014

Appearance:

Clear, pale golden.

Aroma:

Almond oil, brazil nuts, creamy oak and buttery crispy croissant. Water releases more creamy notes.

Taste:

Light and refined yet characterful with graceful lightly smoked oak, smoothing caramel, oiliness, almond, vanilla, acacia honey, creamy malt and citrus freshness.

Aftertaste:

Herbal, salty and lightly smoked with lingering peppery heat. Overall: Much improved at the higher 46.3% strength.
