This 55-year-old Glenfiddich single malt honours Janet Sheed Roberts, the granddaughter of William Grant, the founder of the Glenfiddich distillery. Janet, who celebrated her 110th birthday in August 2011, is the oldest living person in Scotland.
Glenfiddich is only releasing 11 of the 15 bottles filled from cask No. 4222 to the public - that's one to celebrate each decade of her life. Bottle No.1 sold at Bonham's in December 2011 for £46,850, in doing so breaking a world record for the most expensive single malt Scotch whisky sold at auction. Bottle No.2 will was auctioned on Friday 10th February at The Honourable Artillery Company, London in aid of Walking With The Wounded and raised £44,000 for the charity dedicated to the re-training and re-education of servicemen and women.
