A limited release of 1,800 bottles in September 2014, this 25 year old Auchentoshan was triple distilled in 1988 and initially matured for 8 years in ex-bourbon barrels followed by 17 years further aging in first fill wine barriques from Bordeaux. Bottled without chill-filtration.

Appearance:

Clear, antique copper.

Aroma:

Cinnamon spice, prunes, plums and blackened fruit cake with black cherry and dark chocolate. Clove studded zesty orange emerges with water.

Taste:

Clove, cinnamon and black pepper spice with oak tannins and tobacco are balanced by sweet black cherry, fruit cake and burnt plum pudding. A splash of water tames the spice but not the oak tannins.

Aftertaste:

Lingering wine and oak tannins with some black cherry fruit.
