One of the world’s most influential directors, the man behind Goodfellas, Raging Bull, The Last Temptation of Christ, The Wolf of Wall Street and, of course, Casino, was born in Queens, New York City, on this day in 1942.
A one-time altar boy, Martin Scorsese entered a seminary to train for the priesthood before starting his movie career. He directed Michael Jackson's iconic Bad, worked with Robert de Niro on at least eight films and is, of course, the subject of a charming ode by art-rockers King Missile. We are sipping a citrussy Casino in his honour.
