Serve in a Martini glass

Ingredients:
1 12 oz Hayman's London Dry Gin
1 12 oz Strucchi Dry Vermouth
0.04 oz Luxardo Maraschino liqueur
1 dash Angostura Aromatic Bitters
× 1 1 serving

How to make:

  1. Select and pre-chill a Martini glass.
  2. Prepare garnish of skewered Fragata Green Olive.
  3. STIR all ingredients with ice.
  4. STRAIN into chilled glass.
  5. Garnish with skewered olive.

History:

Adapted from a recipe published in Hugo R. Ensslin's 1917 Recipes for Mixed Drinks (Second Edition). The Imperial Cocktail also notably features in Harry Craddock's 1930 The Savoy Cocktail Book.

IMPERIAL COCKTAIL.
½ French Vermouth
½ El Bart Gin
1 dash Angostura Bitters
1 dash Maraschino
Stir well in a mixing glass with cracked ice, strain and serve with an olive.

Very, very flavourful. The Maraschino adds a interesting hint. Was perfect before dinner.

This is really good. For a plain martini I normally prefer 2:1 gin to vermouth, but this makes for a very pleasing 1:1. A little sour, a little salty. I made mine with M&R extra dry but I look forward to trying it with another brand at some time in the future.
