History

Adapted from a recipe in Harry Craddock's 1930 The Savoy Cocktail Book.

KNICKERBOCKER COCKTAIL.
1 dash Italian Vermouth.
⅓ French Vermouth,
⅔ Dry Gin.
Shake well and strain into cocktail glass. Squeeze lemon peel on top.

Harry Craddock, The Savoy Cocktail Book, 1930

Review

Aromatic vermouth dominates but gin botanicals put up a spirited defence in this flavoursome 'medium' Martini.

Comments & Discussion

Fabio Andrade
I quite enjoyed this. Curious to try with some floral or citrusy gin and a complex and balanced dry vermouth with a subtle all-around rosso like Carpano Classico or Cocchi. Using a very simple and standard London Dry and Martini brand vermouth it was enjoyable with a bigger expressed orange peel.
