Ingredients:
1 23 oz 10+ year old blended rum
23 oz Dubonnet/French rouge aromatised wine
12 oz Strucchi Red Bitter (Campari-style liqueur)
× 1 1 serving

How to make:

  1. Select and pre-chill a Coupe glass.
  2. Prepare garnish of orange zest twist.
  3. STIR all ingredients with ice.
  4. FINE STRAIN into chilled glass.
  5. EXPRESS orange zest twist over the cocktail and use as garnish.

History:

Adapted from a recipe created by Mark Huang of Taiwan while competing in the "Gentleman's Drinks & Fancy Tipples" round in Diageo's World Class Global competition in 2011. Mark won the round with this cocktail which was originally made with Zacapa 23 rum, hence the name for this riff on a classic Negroni.

Tried this tonight and was underwhelmed. I enjoy bitter, but I found this more than I cared for. Will give it another go with slightly increased Dubonnet and less Campari. Depending on how that goes may try swapping out the Campari for Aperol.
