Slightly too sweet to my taste, maybe less grenadine and orange juice?

Unique taste. I like others I would think will require more context to the history of this drink posted here before we venture elsewhere to learn more. President of what and where?

Even with Plantation 3 star (a more exciting lightly aged rum than, for example, Bacardi) it's...rum and orange juice. Yeah, there's not much more to add other than this is indeed rum, orange juice, and a bit of red fruit.

Tried it exactly as written and it was nice, fruity without being sour (you can't really detect the lemon juice at all). Rum plus fruit juice without going a tropical direction. I suspect it would indeed be even better with half gold rum.

Tried it with blood orange and raspberry syrup and it turned just fine.

Had no fresh Valencia oranges, so I used fresh blood orange juice. Use half of the light rum and half Jamaican Gold Rum. Very flavourful.
