History:

Adapted from a recipe created in 2009 by Ian Scalzo at Bourbon & Branch bar in San Francisco, USA. Eponymously named after the noted American architect who designed more than 1,000 structures over his 70-year career. Wright influenced other architects throughout the world who also sought to design in harmony with humanity and the environment, a philosophy he termed "organic architecture". His most famous work, Fallingwater in Pennsylvania was built in 1935, partly over a waterfall, as a weekend retreat house for Liliane and Edgar J. Kaufmann, the owner of Pittsburgh's Kaufmann's Department Store. The property is now a National Historic Landmark.

Very nice. I’m going to try it again with rye or Canadian whisky too - I always find bourbon a bit sweet. I added a shake of Fee Bros Black Walnut Bitters to punch up the walnut flavour.

Delicious cocktail. As punchy as an Old Fashioned but with beguiling subtlety. Another addition to 'Favourites'.

Peach-flavoured whiskey? Or peat-flavoured whisky?

Ha! Now that Simon's corrected the recipe to peated whiskey, his next task is to create a cocktail using the Jim Beam Peach Bourbon I finally managed to acquire (after, yes, about 26 weeks!) in order to try and make this one :-)

Thanks, Alan. Now corrected to peated whisky. I was a little too hasty selecting options from our drop menu of ingredients.
