Ingredients:
1 14 oz Del Maguey Vida Clásico Mezcal
1 oz Cranberry juice (sweetened)
12 oz Bittersweet orange-red aperitivo
12 oz Lime juice (freshly squeezed)
4 drop Difford's Margarita Bitters
× 1 1 serving

How to make:

  1. Select and pre-chill an Old-fashioned glass.
  2. Prepare garnish of salt and chili powder rim & dehydrated lime slice wheel.
  3. SHAKE all ingredients with ice.
  4. STRAIN into ice-filled glass.

Review:

Mezcal-forward, but in flavour rather than a spirituous way, indeed this bittersweet aperitivo s relatively restrained on the boozy front.

History:

Adapted from a recipe created in 2022 by Bryan Cranston, star of Breaking Bad, and originally made with Dos Hombres mezcal, the brand he cofounded with co-star Aaron Paul.

Loved this, surprised that there aren't more positive comments. Difford's review sums it up excellently. The smoke of the mezcal comes through subtly late, whilst the Aperol/cranberry combo softens the approach.

Ì tried this with package pomegranate juice. Too sour for me. I’ll add agave syrup

More convincing as a chemist than a mixologist.
