Serve in a Martini glass

Ingredients:
1 23 oz Hayman's London Dry Gin from freezer
1 23 oz Ambrato/ambre/amber vermouth chilled
124 oz Kummel liqueur
× 1 1 serving

Prepare:

  1. Select and pre-chill a MARTINI GLASS.
  2. Prepare garnish of lemon zest twist and skewered Fragata Green Olive.

How to make:

  1. STIR all ingredients with ice.
  2. FINE STRAIN into chilled glass.

Garnish:

  1. Express lemon zest twist over the cocktail and discard.
  2. Garnish with skewered olive.

Review:

A Fifty-Fifty Martini with a touch of kümmel. Your choice of dry vermouth (you need a characterful one) and temperature are key to this cocktail's success. Freeze/chill all ingredients and the glass prior to mixing and it can be brilliant.

ALLIES COCKTAIL.
½ French Vermouth
½ English Gin
2 dashes Russian Kummel
Stir well in a mixing glass with cracked ice, strain and serve.

Created during World War I (1914-1918), this cocktail refers to an alliance between English gin, French vermouth and (Russian) kummel (the origins of which are linked to Tsar Peter the Great).

Alcohol content:

  • 1.7 standard drinks
  • 23.39% alc./vol. (23.39° proof)
  • 23.7 grams of pure alcohol

Agree that this benefits from being served icy cold. So perhaps better shaken long than stirred?
