Review:

Just as the name suggests, only classically an Aviation should include crème de violette so if you feel this is lacking then consider adding 2.5ml (¼ a barspoon)– anymore and the parma violet floral notes overpower the strawberry.

Adapted from a recipe created by Richard Godwin and published via his The Spirits on Substack, in turn his recipe is a strawberry-infused riff on Takumis Aviation.

Eminently drinkable little cocktail. Colour is stunning! Obviously the quality of the fruit is going to be the main determining factor of your outcome. I added a small dash of violetter so it was very delicately scattered (note recipe mentions 2.5ml = quarter of a spoon, rather than half?).

Excellent cocktail, fruity, but absolutely on the dry side and quite strong. I suggest to add some strawberry syrup unless you have really good, sweet and ripe strawberries. I upped the amounts by a third for a Nick&Nora.

Wonderful strawberry cocktail. The strawberries are center the flavour. Gin adds a bit of herbal notes, but are in the background. Did not add the Creme de violette as we felt it would overpower the cocktail and muddy the beautiful red colour of the cocktail.
