How to make:

  1. Select and pre-chill a MARTINI GLASS.
  2. Prepare garnish of cucumber slices.
  3. STIR all ingredients with ice.
  4. FINE STRAIN into chilled glass.

Review:

If good quality sake and shochu are used then this can be a great drink. However, it lacks the alcoholic bite I associate with a true Martini, so I much prefer this drink when vodka is used in place of shochu.

I’ve made something similar before with Korean traditional distilled soju (over 40% ABV) and cheongju/yakju (clear rice wine). They’re somewhat similar to shochu and nihonshu. Still, the 1:1 combination made sense when I tried it that way.
