Bright and rich. Bourbon was definitely the right choice and my gut feeling would be to avoid ryes, scotchs, and single malts. I recommend an essence of lemon on the rim of the glass

I happened to find a Boomerang recipe from a different source, which was basically a sopping wet martini, with a splash of marachino/juice. Is there a different cocktail that is better defined as that?

Such a ‘Martini’ is a Turf Club (1900, Harry Johnson) or a Tuxedo Cocktail No. 2 (Savoy & Duffy’s recipe).
