Ingredients:
1 13 fl oz Blended Scotch whisky
13 fl oz Giffard Poire William liqueur
12 fl oz Ginger wine
12 fl oz Maple syrup
16 fl oz Lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
2 12 fl oz Thomas Henry Soda Water
× 1 1 serving

Prepare:

  1. Select and pre-chill a COLLINS GLASS.
  2. Prepare garnish of orange zest twist.

How to make:

  1. SHAKE first 5 ingredients with ice.
  2. STRAIN into ice-filled glass.
  3. TOP with soda.

Garnish:

  1. EXPRESS orange zest twist over the cocktail and use as garnish.

Review:

Looking at the recipe, with pear liqueur and a whopping 15ml (½oz) of maple syrup, I thought it would be overly sweet. However, as you'd expect from a Satan's Whiskers cocktail, it's beautifully balanced and refreshing and harnesses Scotch whisky's affinity for pear, ginger, and lemon.

A beautiful, delicate, light cocktail for whiskey lovers and those still waiting to succumb to whiskeys charms. This cocktail was the reason I went to the bar where it was first made, Satan's whiskers.
