Ingredients:
1 23 oz Patrón Reposado tequila
34 oz Lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
34 oz Orange juice (freshly squeezed)
12 oz Agave syrup
2 dash Orange Bitters by Angostura
3 drop Saline solution 4:1 (20g sea salt to 80g water)
× 1 1 serving

How to make:

  1. Select and pre-chill an Old-fashioned glass.
  2. Prepare garnish of skewered half orange slice wheel and Luxardo Maraschino Cherry (sail).
  3. SHAKE all ingredients with ice.
  4. FINE STRAIN into ice-filled glass.
  5. Garnish with skewered half orange slice and cherry (sail).

Review:

I prefer a reposado tequila in this sour but I'm sure others will argue for the freshness and purity of a blanco.

History:

Adapted from a recipe in Vincent Sardi Jr. & George Shea's 1988 Sardi's Bar Guide.

TEQUILA STONE SOUR
1 teaspoon superfine sugar
¾ ounce lemon juice, preferably freshly squeezed
2 ounces tequila
2 ounces orange juice, preferably freshly squeezed
½ slice orange or lemon for garnish
1 maraschino cherry for garnish
Combine ingredients with ice cubes in a cocktail shaker. Shake. Strain into cocktail glass, or empty contents, ice cubes and all, into an Old-Fashioned glass and serve on the rocks. Garnish with ½ slice orange or lemon and a maraschino cherry.

yes good thanks ok. nice margarita alternative. orange works well. i'm not angry i'm happy. maybe we could all splash a little amaro montenegro in one day? let me know.

No, the blanco would be too demure. Reposado stands its ground magnificently here.
