Created in the 1860s by Gaspare Campari at his Caffè Campari, on Milan's Piazza del Duomo and named after the origins of its two ingredients: Campari from Milan and rosso vermouth, traditionally from Turin. It is said that later, soda water was added to the Milano-Torino to create the Americano. The Milano-Torino also morphed into the Negroni with gin added.
