History:

Created in 2010 by Kevin Armstrong at Milk & Honey, London. The name comes from the part of London where Kevin lived, E8, an area where muggings were commonplace.

One night Kevin had just dropped Sam Jeveons off during their taxi ride home and Sam stopped to take a leak. While pissing against a wall with his trousers dropped around his feet, a guy came up behind him, stepped on his trousers and told him to hand over his wallet. Sam ended up chasing the guy with trousers around his ankles. The episode became known as the East 8 Hold Up.

My Spec is slightly tweaked:

45ml 50% Vodka
40ml Pineapple
15ml Lime
15ml Aperol
15ml Passionfruit Syrup (Teisseire)
2 Dashes Peychaud's Bitters

Yes, the Pineapple is a litter richer, but the higher Vodka helps cut through that and clean it up. I like this Teisseire syrup a lot. It has the most passionfruit juice in it..

I suppose Vodka would make taste cleaner?! I do not have one, so used Pisco instead. Really fruity and love the passion fruit finish….I will try with Vodka next time.

Went with vanilla vodka and 1cl of passionfruit syrup (and no sugar syrup obviously), it was great !

Liked this very much. Just right on sweet vs sour for us. May try Aperol next time as I used Campari on this go.

Used 1/4oz passion fruit and omitted the sugar syrup. I’m not normally a fan of vodka cocktails, but this was spot on.

I've just made this now with lime Stoli vodka. It's interesting, you get a lot more lime notes without the acidity. Might try making this with orange vodka next as well

I had this at Satan's Whiskers yesterday and it was awesome. The guy who invented it owns SW. It's a great bar in London, definitely visit it

Tropical without being overly sweet. Did cut the sugar syrup in half, and would probably omit next time. Very refreshing with a slight bitterness.

Liked this, but would be inclined to miss out the sugar syrup - feels like it would be sweet enough with just the passion fruit syrup.

Thanks for the advice! I left out the simple syrup and raised the passion fruit syrup to 7.5 ml. It’s a darn good cocktail!

I've been wanting to try this since I saw Jane's TikTok. It did NOT disappoint.
